5. Most SEC favorites will win big

Many teams in the SEC are projected to make a significant run for the conference title. There are currently eight teams from the SEC that are ranked in the top 25. The closest projected matchup this week are No. 16 Tennessee traveling to take on South Carolina with the Vols being 3.5-point favorites. The next closest game is expected to be No. 23 Kentucky traveling to No. 8 Auburn, which is a 10.5-point favorite.

The No. 5 Florida Gators are 14.5-point favorites when they travel to face the Ole Miss Rebels. The reigning national champ in No. 6 LSU is a 16.5-point favorite as it hosts Mississippi State. Finally, No. 4 Georgia (26.5), No. 2 Alabama (27) and No. 10 Texas A&M (31) are all huge favorites over Arkansas, Missouri and Vanderbilt, respectively.

All three teams that are at least a 26.5-point underdog are those in the middle of a huge rebuilding process or yet to make that step to rebuild. The Bulldogs, Crimson Tide and Aggies are likely to cover their spread due to the dynamic talent of both sides of the ball. The LSU Tigers may not have the same efficiency with their offense last season, but the Bulldogs are not capable of establishing the air-raid offense in an offseason impacted by COVID-19.

Both the Gators and the Auburn Tigers are playing talented teams in Ole Miss and Kentucky. There would be no surprise if they made the game closer than the projected point-differential. Florida and Auburn have a top that is currently projected to finish second in their respective division, they will be looking to win big as a challenge to the rest of the top competitors in the SEC.
