1. Despite the loss, bright spots shine for South Alabama

South Alabama did struggle to move the football all night, but there were some bright spots that you can point to as a South Alabama fan.

Chance Lovertich struggled in his first start, but showed a lot of promise as a quarterback, especially when under pressure. He didn’t make bad decisions or try to force the ball around.

The defense was able to adjust to the UAB offense after a troublesome first half and really slow down the offense. UAB didn’t move the ball in the second half like they did in the first. The drives that they scored on were due to short field turnovers.

Carlos Davis showed flashes out of the backfield, so you know that they have weapons — especially when they get into conference play. South Alabama is headed in the right direction and they should be competitive in the rest of the Sun Belt.
