Cincinnati kept pace with UCF in the American Athletic Conference and locked down a place in the teens of the next AP Top 25 as they took down Army 24-10 in a matchup of ranked teams. The Bearcats held the Black Knights under 300 total yards of offense as they improved to 2-0 in the standings and set themselves up as one of the teams to beat in the Group of Five race for a New Year’s Six bid.

Desmond Ridder threw for 258 yards and two touchdowns on 18-of-33 passing. The Bearcats needed every one of those yards through the air, as they struggled to gain purchase on the ground against the Army front seven. Cincinnati failed to average two yards per carry as they finished with 69 net rushing yards as a team.

Now Luke Fickell’s team turns their attention to conference play, as they welcome South Florida to Nippert Stadium on October 3. Their biggest tests will come on Halloween in an AAC title game rematch against Memphis and on November 21 at UCF.
