College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 5
By Zach Bigalke
Texas A&M found itself in a dogfight at Kyle Field on Saturday night as they opened the season against Vanderbilt. The Commodores found themselves within two points of the Aggies heading into the fourth quarter, putting A&M fans on edge. Jimbo Fisher’s crew finally prevailed 17-12 in the end, but it was the kind of performance that could cause voters to drop the Aggies out of the top 10 of the AP Top 25 heading into October.
Kellen Mond completed 17 of his 28 passes, finishing with 189 passing yards and a touchdown. Isaiah Spiller offered a dynamic presence in the backfield, rushing for 117 yards as a counter to Ainias Smith’s 51 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Texas A&M contained a Commodores offense that finished with fewer than 300 total yards.
The degree of difficulty ramps up considerably in Week 5, when Texas A&M heads to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama.
