2. Pitt defensive line is incredible

We’ve talked about this Pitt defense all year long leading up into this season, and they have not disappointed yet. This team is incredible. It starts up front with the defensive line — even without star defensive tackle Jaylen Twyman who opted out of the season for family reasons. The Panthers’ defense collected twelve tackles for loss and three interceptions.

Defensive end Patrick Jones Jr. was absolutely dominant. Jones collected three of the team’s seven sacks in this game. Defensive tackle Rashard Weaver was incredible, too, collecting 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

The constant pressure on Louisville quarterback Micale Cunningham lead the defense to limit the run game and kept this offense from being able to use their explosive playmakers.

Pittsburgh’s defense is incredible, and they are going to be the reason why Pitt is competitive the rest of the season. If the Panthers are able to make a championship run of any kind, this defensive front will be the reason why. Teams that win championships win in the trenches.
