2. Texas Tech could not overcame early turnovers

It started early in the second quarter when Texas’ Chris Brown intercepted an Alan Bowman pass and returned it for 22 yards. Then before halftime, Chris Adimora picked off a Bowman pass and returned for 71 yards.

In the third quarter after some poor special teams play, the Texas punt return unit blocked a Red Raiders punt and Xavier Martin recovered it for a Longhorns touchdown.

The early Red Raiders turnovers looked like they could have been overcome because the Texas Tech offense played so well in the second half that the early turnovers looked like they would not cost them the upset over the Longhorns.

However, even with a late Texas Tech lead, Texas was able to score too late fourth quarter touchdowns to force overtime.
