1. Clemson Tigers (2-0, 1-0 ACC)

The top-ranked Tigers were off this week as they saw chaos unfold right in front of them. Clemson watched two of its biggest competitors in the playoff race lose. They faced Oklahoma in the Russell Athletic Bowl in 2014 where they won 40-6 and the following season, both teams met in their first College Football Playoff where the Tigers were victorious against the Sooners 37-17.

One game after defeating Clemson in the College Football Playoff National Championship 42-25, the LSU Tigers dropped their first game with a new-look team.

It’s now highly unlikely that both the Sooners and LSU Tigers will be in the final mix for the College Football Playoff with bad losses this early into the season. This should serve as a wake-up call for the Tigers despite their roster full of experienced starters.

Their last regular-season loss was on October 13, 2017, at Syracuse. With the way that highly ranked teams are dropping like flies, it comes as a warning for Clemson.

On Saturday, the Tigers will host a Virginia team (1-0) that’s still fresh. The Cavaliers are looking to make that leap into a conference title team that finished last season with a 9-5 record. The Tigers know to play the year strong as they have turned into one of the more reliable teams to win big regular-season games. They are not taking that chance either way.
