College Football Playoff 2020: Projected top 4 after Week 4
2. Alabama Crimson Tide (1-0)
The No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide looked like they were on a serious rebound after missing the College Football Playoff for the first time in 2019. They wanted to make a statement this past Saturday as they beat Missouri 38-19.
They were the same team on the offensive side of the ball from last season: aggressive and productive. The Tide still looked like they had their third-ranked passing offense last season with Mac Jones as the starting quarterback.
Alabama’s offense easily accounted for 414 yards and the defense looked more aggressive and efficient. This was the first game back for senior middle linebacker Dylan Moses after missing all of the 2019 season with an ACL tear. He led the defense that held Tigers to just 69 rushing yards.
The Tide’s lead grew to as much as 35-6 before the offensive line allowed some pressure and the second team surrendered 13 points in the fourth quarter. The Tide didn’t think the Tigers would have that much fight going into the fourth quarter. They will be much more efficient as they will host the No. 13 Texas A&M Aggies (1-0) on Saturday. The Aggies are coming off a terrible 17-12 win over Vanderbilt.
The Tide currently have a seven-game winning streak against the Aggies but are not looking to the past for relevance. Alabama is determined to win big in all of their games this season. The Tide are currently 16.5-point favorites over the Aggies.
