1. Zach Wilson is the real deal

With several key members of his offensive line missing, and with a freight train of hype building behind him after an undefeated start to the season with an 80 percent completion percentage through the first two games, Zach Wilson showed what everyone inside BYU already knows.

This kid is for real.

Wilson showcased everything that you want to see out of a quarterback on Friday night’s win over Louisiana Tech. Decision making? Check. Arm strength? Check. Ability to throw on the run? Check. Extending the play with a dual threat skillset? Check, check, check.

Ignore the fact that Louisiana Tech had allowed 34 points and 335 passing yards on average per game. Much like how we praise Trevor Lawrence for making NFL throws against The Citadel, Wilson made some grown man throws in the victory.

Wilson showed his ability to buy time in the pocket on the throw to Romney that was ultimately called back to the one yard line. The touchdown throw to Wheat was put where only the tight end could get it. The touchdown throw to Romney was an absolute bullet showcasing ball placement and the ability to put some zip on the ball.

As the NFL pivots to quarterbacks in the mould of Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson, and even Patrick Mahomes that can make plays with their legs, Wilson found the end zone three times.

By the time he removed his helmet and placed his customary Air Jordan headband on to call it a night, Wilson had gone 24-for-26 — a frankly insane 92 percent completion percentage — for 325 passing yards and two touchdowns whilst adding 43 rushing yards and those three rushing scores.

At full time, BYU football head coach Kalani Sitake described Wilson as a “special kid” and after his showing tonight, it’s difficult to argue with that assessment.

Reportedly 28 NFL teams will be attendance at Fargo, North Dakota to watch Trey Lance on Saturday. It might be about time to send some of that representation down to Provo, Utah.
