College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 6
By Zach Bigalke
Wisconsin didn’t quite climb back up to their preseason No. 12 ranking, but they were still safely nestled in the teens when the dust settled on the AP Top 25 last week. The Badgers came in at No. 19, and they should stay somewhere in the high teens after everything that transpired in Week 5. There they should continue to remain over the next few weeks before they finally take the field on October 24 at home against Illinois.
Paul Chryst’s team returns one of the most experienced defenses in the country, which should help the team retool after the loss of Jonathan Taylor in the backfield and several other key parts throughout the offense. That defense, which pitched four shutouts last season and gave up an average of 17 points per game over the course of 2019, has the potential to be even better this year.
Impressive performances among teams already playing could drop Wisconsin down a spot or two. There should still be a number by their name when the Badgers welcome their rivals to the south to Madison on the weekend before Halloween.
