College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 6
By Zach Bigalke
LSU recovered from their season-opening loss to Mississippi State at home, rebounding with a 41-7 victory in Nashville against Vanderbilt to remain in the AP Top 25 for another week. The defending College Football Playoff champions looked far more comfortable as a unit against an overmatched Commodores group, and they should land somewhere in the high teens of the AP Top 25 following the convincing win.
Myles Brennan had a solid rebound game, throwing for four touchdowns and 337 yards on 23-of-37 passing. Terrace Marshall Jr. and Jontre Kirklin each hauled in two of those scoring strikes, and John Emery Jr. led the ground game with 103 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Vanderbilt actually had right about the same number of rushing yards as LSU, but the Tigers thwarted Commodores quarterback Ken Seals on a day when he threw for only 113 yards.
Next week the Tigers have the chance to exorcise the demons in Death Valley after the loss to the Bulldogs when Missouri comes to Baton Rouge. Climbing back up the SEC West ladder isn’t impossible, but the Bayou Bengals can’t lose again if they hope to have any chance of retaining their crown.
