College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 6
By Zach Bigalke
Clemson did nothing on Saturday against Virginia to dissuade voters to push them down their ballots from the top spot in the AP Top 25. They are 3-0 after a 41-23 takedown of the Cavaliers in a rematch of last year’s ACC championship game. It was the kind of performance that we’ve come to expect from Dabo Swinney’s teams after five straight ACC titles and five straight College Football Playoff appearances.
Last week the Tigers received 55 of a possible 62 first-place votes, even after Ohio State was reintroduced to the poll along with every other team from the Big Ten, Pac-12, Mountain West, and MAC. Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne continue to fuel the effort on offense. Lawrence finished with 329 yards and three touchdowns on 25-of-38 passing in the victory, and Etienne added 73 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.
Clemson remains No. 1 heading into Week 6, when the Tigers finally get their first true opportunity to impress voters. Undefeated Miami comes to South Carolina for what promises to be a top-10 ACC showdown.
