1. The little things lost the game for Kentucky

After two games with a bunch of silly mistakes, penalties, and bad decision making, Kentucky cost themselves an opportunity to start 2-0.

The mistakes came early beginning with AJ Rose prematurely taunting the Ole Miss defense on a long run before being tackled at the two-yard line. Rose, two plays later, fumbled, giving the ball back to Ole Miss. The cats then proceeded later on in the game to miss a field goal that would’ve put them in the lead. On top of all of this, the Cats missed an extra point and had a pass interference in the red zone which was the self-inflicted nail in the coffin.

Kentucky must improve on becoming more disciplined. Kentucky was in each game, mistakes and bad play calling cost them points that would’ve won them the game.

They will need to limit all mistakes next game as they take on the other Mississippi school, Mississippi State, another high octane offense under Mike Leach who can cause issues for UK if they continue to make terrible mistakes and turn the ball over. Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops was so mad after the game that he chased the officials off the field to chew them out.

As for Ole Miss, they earned their first win under new head coach Lane Kiffin who was very emotional.

The Rebels should enjoy this win while they can, as Kiffin takes on his old mentor Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide, who just absolutely steamrolled Texas A&M 52-24. The coach and the mentor reunion starts at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN.
