2. Pitt shot itself in the foot constantly

Whenever your penalty yardage for a single game surpasses triple digits, you know you had a poor showing. Pat Narduzzi has to feel as if his team played incredibly undisciplined on Saturday afternoon as penalties played a major factor.

When the Panthers weren’t capitalizing in the red zone, they were getting flagged for silly penalties which kept NC State in the game and even gave the Wolfpack a late lead.

In fact, an incomplete pass on a critical third-down play by NC State in the fourth quarter was supposed to lead to a punt, but Pitt hit Devin Leary late and was called for roughing the passer, giving the Wolfpack a first down which eventually led to a go-ahead score.

Pitt needs to clean up its play because Saturday’s penalty-ridden performance was unacceptable. Discipline seems to be an issue because talent certainly isn’t a problem.
