7. Boston College Eagles (2-1, 1-1)

Will the real Eagles please stand up? Are they the team that handily defeated Duke to open their season? Rather, are they the team that looked sloppy in a comeback win against Texas State? Maybe they are the team that played a more talented UNC team tough until the end and fell just short? The truth is, they are a combination of all three.

Boston College offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti has done an outstanding job of designing the Eagles’ offense to fit Notre Dame transfer Phil Jurkovec’s strength. He is athletic enough to make plays with his legs and has a big arm. Boston College has benefitted from Jurkovec’s solid play and they’ve needed his outstanding play. The Eagles are usually a solid running team and they’ve struggled to get the ground game.

Wide receiver Kobay White’s injury has not helped. However, Zay Flowers and Hunter Long have done an admirable job of filling in the gap White left in the receiving game. First-year head coach Jeff Hafley has instilled a scrappy attitude in addition to that ingrained Boston College toughness.

The Eagles have two tough games upcoming against Pitt and Virginia Tech. The Hokies and Panthers better strap up.
