ACC Football Power Rankings, Week 6: Clemson shines, Pitt plummets
By Dante Pryor
6. Virginia Cavaliers (1-1, 1-1)
When the Virginia Cavaliers finally made it on the field many of the questions of the V-men were answered. Brennan Armstrong, like his predecessor Bryce Perkins, leads the Cavaliers in both passing and is second in rushing. His backfield mate Wayne Taulapapa is averaging 4.9 yards per rush and leads the team in rushing.
The improved running game through two games demonstrates the improved offensive line. Billy Kemp leads the team in receptions with Armstrong spreading the wealth amongst the Cavaliers’ receivers. Virginia head coach Bronco Mendenhall seems to have recruited well.
Then Virginia played Clemson. By the time Virginia blinked, they were down 24-3. The Cavaliers did not stop fighting and despite the lopsided score made some players considering they were grossly outmatched by the Tigers.
The Cavaliers play the North Carolina State Wolfpack this weekend. This game should tell us about Virginia. Can the Cavaliers score with the Pack? How good is the Virginia defense, really? All of these questions will have answers after the NC State game.
