ACC Football Power Rankings, Week 6: Clemson shines, Pitt plummets

4. North Carolina Tar Heels (2-0, 2-0)
The North Carolina Tar Heels are undefeated through two games and they ave not played their best offensive football yet. Sophomore quarterback Sam Howell has yet to get his feet under him throwing the football.
The running back duo of Javonte Williams and Michale Carter have really been the engine that drives the offense so far this season. Wide receiver Dazz Newsome has yet to find his stride as he attempts to have another 1,000-yard season.
The defense has done an outstanding job so far this season. The defense harassed Syracuse quarterback Tommy DeVito in their 31-6 romp of the Orange. Last week against the Boston College Eagles the defense held BC to just 40 rushing yards. Outside linebacker Chazz Surratt was outstanding with eight tackles and a sack. Much of their sluggish offense could be attributed to rust.
The Tar Heels opened the season on Sept. 12 against the Orange and did not play again for nearly a month.
That gap was due to their game against Charlotte getting canceled. Their next game against a depleted Virginia Tech squad is on for this weekend. Despite the Hokies playing short-handed, they are not a team to count out. Tech has been tough in both their wins and they’ll carry that mentality when they travel to Chapel Hill to take on the Heels.
