10. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (1-2, 1-1)

This may seem a bit high for the Yellow Jackets and as they go through the season, their ranking will balance themselves out. However, despite Georgia Tech’s record, they are so close to breaking through. Georgia Tech is far from perfect and is at least a year or two away from becoming a consistent bowl team.

The story of the Yellow Jackets’ season is learning to finish. Georgia Tech would have drives that had promise and would stall. That said, second-year head coach Geoff Collins found his quarterback in Jeff Sims. Against Syracuse, however, Sims had his worst game in his young career at Georgia Tech. Sims completed less than 50 percent of his passes and threw four interceptions in their loss at Syracuse.

The rest of Georgia Tech’s season is all about finishing. The Jackets need to finish drives and score touchdowns. The defense has not been awful, despite what the numbers say. They’ve been gassed by being on the field so much when the offense can’t score.

Georgia Tech gets Louisville next. Sims and the Yellow Jackets need to finish. A win would be ideal, but they need to prove they can finish drives and score points.
