2. Clemson controlled the tempo

The Tigers set the tempo of the game in the opening drive when Trevor Lawrence connected with Brian Galloway for the 24-yard touchdown pass and they controlled the field for nearly the entire first half of the game.

At the end of the first quarter Clemson had possession of the ball for nearly 12 minutes and added another 10 minutes of possession in the second quarter.

In the second half the Tigers kept possession of the ball for nearly twice as long as the Hurricanes and ended up with possession of the ball for a total of 38:30 while Miami only had the ball for 21:30 minutes.
