2. No. 5 North Carolina at Florida State

Perhaps no team benefitted more from Miami getting throttled last week than North Carolina. The Hurricanes’ loss allowed the Tar Heels to move up to fifth in the AP Top 25 and possibly position themselves as the biggest contender to make the ACC championship game against Clemson.

North Carolina’s offense woke up in a big way last week against Virginia Tech and the Tar Heels showed how many playmakers they have on offense with big games from running back Brandon Carter and wide receivers Dyami Brown and Dazz Newsome.

Florida State has been mostly terrible this season, but showed some signs of life last week against Notre Dame. Quarterback Jordan Travis had a nice game, as did star receiver Tamorrion Terry and the Seminoles showed signs of life on offense.

This game has playoff implications because I think North Carolina is the ACC team best positioned for a playoff spot besides Clemson. The Tar Heels don’t play the Tigers in the regular season and if they can get through the regular season unbeaten, watch out.
