ACC Football Power Rankings, Week 6: Hurricanes downgraded to rain shower

2. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (3-0, 2-0)
Sometimes, out of sight out of mind is a real thing. When Miami was rolling Notre Dame became a forgotten entity. It was not their fault, their game against Wake Forest was canceled due to COVID concerns, and had a bye on October 3. Miami became the hot team and, well out of sight out of mind. Notre Dame reminded everyone they are the likely second-best team in the conference and the biggest threat to Clemson.
The knock on the Irish has been their lack of dynamic playmakers. Both Kyren Williams and Chris Tyree have proven themselves to be legit home run hitters capable of scoring from anywhere on the field. Freshman wide receiver Jordan Johnson should be back soon to give the Irish even more speed.
The only concern would be the run defense. If the only question is whether or not the Irish can compete with Clemson, the Irish need to improve against the run. Notre Dame’s run defense will get tested against Louisville, but the Irish will have no issue scoring. The offensive line will get a test against Pitt, but Notre Dame won’t be threatened.
Their only challenge in the conference is Clemson. No one has been able to compete with the Irish as of yet, can the Irish hang?
