Miami Football: 3 takeaways from ugly victory over Pitt in Week 7
1. Miami bounced back
It was not pretty by any means, but Miami found a way to bounce back from their disappointing loss against Clemson and find a way to win the game.
D’Eriq King was not at his best today, throwing two interceptions which turned into 10 Pittsburgh points. The running game struggled to find open lanes and get many yards after contact. But despite all of that, Miami is 4-1 and beat a team that they should have beaten and there was never really any doubt about it.
No matter the mistakes that were made on offense, the defense picked them up and made plays and were a pretty good team in the red zone today, holding Pittsburgh to four field goals.
Pittsburgh obviously missed quarterback Kenny Pickett today and it is unknown how long he will be out, but I don’t know that the game would have shifted totally in the Panthers if he had played.
Miami was humbled by Clemson last week and in years past that would have doomed them this week, but it answered the call today and that should be a welcome sigh for Hurricanes fans.
