1. Georgia Tech manhandled at home by Clemson

The worst loss of the week came from the complete domination by No. 1 Clemson’s 73-7 road win over Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets were building some confidence after completely restructuring their offense. All of the confidence was drained as the Tigers shut them out after their touchdown in the first quarter.

The Yellow Jackets accounted for only 204 total yards and seven first downs. They were 2-for-14 on third-down conversions and 0-for-3 on fourth-downs. Georgia Tech also had three significant turnovers. They allowed four sacks and 12 tackles for loss.

The defense for the Yellow Jackets allowed  671 total yards and 500 of those yards came from the passing game in which the Tigers averaged 10.2 yards per attempt. Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence threw for 404 yards, five touchdowns, his first interception of the entire season and he had a QBR of 97 on 24-of-32 completions.

This loss is no indication of where Georgia Tech’s season is going as it tells more about the dominance of Clemson on both sides of the ball. This was not a good look for the Yellow Jackets overall as they are trying to make themselves look like a team that can contend for a bowl game.

The Yellow Jackets (2-3, 2-2 ACC) will travel to take on Boston College (3-2, 2-2) on Saturday. A loss to the Eagles would push them even further down the ACC’s ladder.
