4. Oklahoma State Cowboys (3-0, 2-0 Big 12)

The 2020 season has not been kind to the Big 12. The Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns have completely been eliminated from College Football Playoff contention with two early losses. The only undefeated team left from the Big 12 is Oklahoma State.

The Cowboys’ offense looks more electric and efficient with some permanent starters settling in. They’re ranked 44th in the nation in points per game (30) and 43rd in total yards per game (389).

Oklahoma State’s high-powered attack is led by star running back Chuba Hubbard, who has rushed for 339 yards and four touchdowns on 69 carries. He is a serious contender for the Heisman Trophy once again. They have had a big surprise with Shane Illingworth transitioning from third-string quarterback to starter very well in just three games due to an injury to Spencer Sanders.

While they haven’t faced elite offenses from Tulsa, West Virginia or Kansas, the Cowboys’ defense allows just about nine points per game.

On Saturday, the Cowboys will face a more efficient offense when they host No. 17 Iowa State (3-1, 3-0 Big 12). This is the beginning of a tough stretch in conference play.

They have been given an eight percent percent chance to make the College Football Playoff. The Cowboys are the only hope for the Big 12 to make the final four. While there are serious doubts about the Cowboys, they have the players and experience to contend for their first-ever trip to the playoff.
