College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 9
By Zach Bigalke
After losing to Alabama on the road in Week 5, Texas A&M rebounded to win its next two games and climb back into the top 10 of the AP Top 25. After dishing out defeats to Florida and Mississippi State, the Aggies have a much-needed bye in Week 8. That should allow them to retain top-10 position through the end of October.
The offensive line has been great this year in College Station. Kellen Mond has enjoyed great protection, taking only two sacks through the first four games. Opponents have generated stops behind the line of scrimmage only 14 times total at this point of the campaign. That line has also opened plenty of holes for Texas A&M’s running backs, who average more than 172 yards per game on the ground.
The Aggies host a resurgent Arkansas team on Halloween at Kyle Field. If they get past the Razorbacks, Jimbo Fisher’s team then has to defend its ranking on the road the next two weekends in interdivisional showdowns at South Carolina and Tennessee.
