College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 9
By Zach Bigalke
Georgia didn’t drop far after losing to Alabama in Week 7, falling just one spot from No. 3 to No. 4 behind Notre Dame. The Bulldogs are idle in Week 8, which could cost them a few spots in the AP Top 25 heading into Halloween weekend. Kirby Smart’s team will probably fall behind both an Ohio State team that finally took to the field for the first time in 2020 as well as still-undefeated Oklahoma State after their win against top-20 foe Iowa State.
Special teams has been a bright spot so far for the Bulldogs through their first four games. Jake Camarda is currently the top-ranked punter in the FBS with an average of 50.7 yards per kick. Kenny McIntosh averages 36.3 yards per kickoff return, ranking him third in the country. Jack Podlesny averages a full six points per game on field goals, putting him fourth among FBS kickers.
Dominance in all three phases of the game will be critical when Georgia takes on Kentucky in Lexington next weekend, and it will be even more important the following weekend when the Bulldogs meet Florida in Jacksonville for the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. The winner in that showdown likely claims the SEC East at this point of the season.
