3. Kyle Porter and Mulbah Car combine for 150 yards

You’d be forgiven for skipping the running backs when thinking about a Dana Holgorsen-coached offense. After all, he is an air-raid coach. However, he has been known in recent years to run the ball more than air-raid traditionalists. It’s actually what makes his offenses so effective. By forcing defenses to respect the box, he can attack the secondary more easily.

At Houston, Holgorsen has a two-headed attack in the backfield. Mulbah Car should be healthy for the UCF game, and that could spell trouble for the Knights who would have their hands full with just Kyle Porter.

UCF has numerous injuries on their defense, which has led to an unexpected youth movement. It shows. Because of Houston’s ability to throw deep, UCF won’t be able to let their safeties leak down to play the run. This will open holes for Car and Porter, who will stay fresh, taking turns running through the UCF front-six.

Houston’s approach should open their backs up for a huge day against UCF.
