College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 10
By Zach Bigalke
Oklahoma State is going to fall out of the top 10 in the AP Top 25 after they fell 41-34 in overtime against Texas at home. The Cowboys racked up 530 yards of offense in the defeat, but the collapse against the Longhorns effectively eliminates the Big 12 from the College Football Playoff this season. Despite the loss, Mike Gundy’s squad will remain the top-ranked team in the league — at least for one more week.
Spencer Sanders had a huge game in defeat, throwing for 400 yards and four touchdowns on 27-of-39 passing. It was also huge on mistakes, with Sanders coughing up an interception and two fumbles that swung the game in favor of Texas. That negated a strong defensive effort by the Cowboys, who held the visiting Longhorns to only 287 total yards of offense yet still lost in the end.
Oklahoma State will have to go back to the drawing board and figure out what went wrong quickly, as a Week 10 road trip to Manhattan to face Kansas State looms on the horizon. The winner will remain among the Big 12 leaders, but an Oklahoma State loss could risk a fall completely out of the AP Top 25.
