1. Gaining momentum at the perfect time

After sneaking by Louisville 12-7 at home a couple of weeks ago, it looked like Notre Dame was a fraud in the top five. The Irish hadn’t recorded an impressive victory and barely beating the Cardinals at Notre Dame Stadium in a conference game was almost like a death sentence with a matchup against Clemson approaching.

Not so fast.

Notre Dame responded by beating Pitt 45-3 last weekend on the road and then 31-13 in more dominant fashion than the final score shows against Georgia Tech.

Outscoring opponents 76-16 over the two games heading into a Clemson matchup is a perfect momentum and confidence-gainer for this Notre Dame team. Add in the fact that the Tigers will be without Trevor Lawrence for next week’s game against the Tigers and you have the perfect recipe for an upset.

Some of the luster is lost with Lawrence’s absence, but Notre Dame will take it. The Irish have enough momentum to pull off that win.
