Ohio State Football: 3 takeaways from impressive win over Penn State
1. Justin Fields is now the 1B in the Heisman race
I do not envy the voters for this year’s Heisman trophy race, as the decision is going to be a very tough one.
Justin Fields has raced off to an outstanding start to the 2020 season. He has completed 87 percent of his passes, has 664 total yards and seven touchdowns. Fields himself has accounted for 42 of the Buckeyes’ 90 points.
This play in particular was one of those Heisman moments that we search for in the top players.
Fields also sees a schedule in which he can start to rack up record breaking numbers. Ohio State’s next four games include: Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana and Illinois.
These four teams have all allowed 30-plus points in one or both of their games. So, get ready for an insane stretch of high quality football played by Justin Fields and this Buckeye offense.
We know how electric Trevor Lawrence has been, and once he is back on the field he will return to his high level of play. This sets up a fantastic Heisman race including two players who could potentially go Nos. 1 and 2 in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Last year’s game between Ohio State and Clemson was one of the best games of last decade. Both teams are still on track to make the playoff, leaving the possibility of a rematch open. Seeing these two elite players go at it once again would be a great treat for college football fans.
