2. Turnovers will be the downfall of the offense

Despite out-gaining Texas 530-287, Oklahoma State was bested by the Longhorns. The deciding factor was the turnover battle. Even with the incredible success of Sanders mentioned on the previous slide, his three turnovers were likely the key to a Texas upset. Sanders was intercepted once and fumbled twice, while Chuba Hubbard also lost a fumble at the end of the first half.

Before Saturday, the Cowboys had lost just one fumble, but proceeded to lose three in this game. Like last season, Sanders has struggled to hold on to the football at times, as he has now thrown three interceptions in as many games.

Sanders was the 2019 Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year, and is an exciting part of arguably the best offense in the conference. Still, the turnover issue has kept Sanders from becoming one of the best quarterbacks in the nation. Despite the turnovers, Gundy should continue to open the playbook for his dynamic play-making quarterback Sanders.
