3. LSU crumbles at Auburn

The LSU Tigers felt confident of their quarterback situation going into the game against rival Auburn. Head coach Ed Orgeron felt confident in the quarterbacks set to share reps in T.J. Finley and Max Johnson. LSU, however, did not have any consistency on either side of the ball as they were dominated 48-11 at Auburn.

After a scoreless first quarter, Auburn took over completely as they grabbed a 21-3 lead going into halftime. Auburn continued to dominate in the third quarter as it came out on top 42-3. The LSU Tigers found no answer to the dangerous combination of Bo Nix and freshman running back Tank Bigsby.

LSU’s offense failed to find any momentum against Auburn with Finley and Johnson leading. The defense for Auburn shut down LSU’s run game as they only accounted for 32 yards on 27 rushes. Auburn’s defense had four sacks, seven tackles for loss and five quarterback hurries.

LSU’s defense allowed Nix to have an excellent game as he threw for 300 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions and he had a QBR of 92.8 on 18-of-24 passing. Nix also rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.

The Tigers (2-3) are on bye this weekend before they have to host No. 2 Alabama (6-0) and its high-powered offense.
