College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 11
By Zach Bigalke
At halftime of their top-five showdown at home against Clemson, Notre Dame is on pace to earn a few first-place votes and vault up to either No. 2 or No. 3 in the AP Top 25. Up 23-13 at the intermission, the Fighting Irish kept themselves on pace to remain undefeated and take charge of their destiny in the ACC race. As long as the result holds in South Bend, Brian Kelly’s team is projected to put themselves squarely on the College Football Playoff selection committee’s radar.
Ian Book had a mediocre performance in the first half against the Tigers, putting up 101 yards through the air on 9-of-14 passing. On the ground, Kyren Williams busted off a 65-yard touchdown in the first quarter and finished with 102 yards on 10 first-half carries. The defense did its part as they forced two D.J. Uiaigalelei fumbles in the second quarter that turned into 10 points for the home side.
As long as they hold on for victory in prime time on Saturday night, Notre Dame will wake up on Sunday sharing first-place votes in the AP Top 25 with Alabama and Ohio State. The Irish take to the road over the rest of November, with a trip to Boston College looming in Week 11. After a bye week, Notre Dame again hits the road for a Black Friday duel against North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
