1. Notre Dame locked up a playoff spot

Notre Dame is now 7-0 and ranked No. 2 in the country after beating the top-ranked Tigers and the Irish have four games left on the schedule against Boston College, North Carolina, Syracuse and Wake Forest. And then there’s the ACC title game.

As it stands right now, Notre Dame is a near-lock to make the conference title game unless it slips up against one of the final four opponents it will be favored against.

If Notre Dame goes unbeaten, which is more than likely, then even a loss in the ACC title game against Clemson wouldn’t be the end of the playoff road. The committee would almost be forced to take both Clemson and Notre Dame in that scenario if both are 11-1 on the year with a 1-1 record against each other.

Notre Dame needed to win on Saturday in South Bend and it took care of business and even though Trevor Lawrence didn’t get his shot at the Irish, they locked up a playoff berth.

It’s still early, but I’d be shocked if Notre Dame doesn’t make the final four.
