Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 7-0. won 42-14 vs. Middle Tennessee. Marshall Thundering Herd. player. 15. 494

Marshall pulled away in their Conference USA duel against Middle Tennessee, taking down the Blue Raiders 42-14 in Week 11 to improve to 7-0. Still undefeated, the Thundering Herd will hold on to their position in the mid-teens of the AP Top 25 this week. They remain in the hunt not only for the C-USA title but also a New Year’s Six bid as the top Group of Five team, and they could push ahead of Coastal Carolina after the Chanticleers were idled by a COVID-19 outbreak at Troy.

Grant Wells had a sturdy day at quarterback for Marshall, throwing for 336 yards and five touchdowns on 25-of-37 passing. Brenden Knox rushed for only 70 yards, breaking a streak of five straight game in triple digits. The Thundering Herd defense clamped down on Middle Tennessee, holding the Blue Raiders to 303 total yards of offense.

Marshall remains at home in Week 12 to play Charlotte, and then take a week off over Thanksgiving before concluding the regular season with a homestretch against Rice and FIU. If they win out and then take the C-USA title this season, the Thundering herd will have an even stronger case for a New Year’s Six bid than they did in 2014.
