2. Ben Skowronek deserves a lot more playing time

Ben Skowronek arrived at Notre Dame as a transfer from Northwestern that was looked at as a nice addition that might add some depth to the receivers. He’s become so much more than that.

Skowronek has nine catches for 176 yards and two touchdowns, with a lot of that damage coming against Pitt. Those touchdowns kickstarted the Irish offense that really hasn’t looked back since. He has at least one catch in five consecutive games, but his dependability has been growing.

On Saturday, Skowronek caught five passes for 63 yards and three touchdowns. He now has five touchdowns on 12 receptions on the season, becoming one of the most dependable and underutilized threats on the Irish offense.

Maybe that’s what Brian Kelly is looking for. But Skowronek has proven that he deserves more playing time and more opportunity to make big plays.
