2. San Diego State (at Nevada)

Almost nobody expected Nevada to start the season 4-0, and absolutely nobody expected any Mountain West game to appear in the 3:30 time slot for CBS. But, 2020 has been full of surprises, and here we are with an unbeaten Nevada hosting San Diego State as an underdog. A slight underdog, but an underdog all the same.

San Diego State, now led by Brady Hoke, is still looking to attack opponents on the ground. That’s how they jumped Hawaii last week, with a strong zone running game that they managed to break for long runs. Except, they’re playing Nevada this week and the Wolf Pack should be much better equipped to slow down the Aztecs running attack. After all, Nevada is only allowing 126 yards on the ground per game.

San Diego State are no slouches on the other side of the ball, though, only allowing 243.5 total yards per game on the ground. It’s been brutal for opponents, who are worn down trying to stop the run, and can’t sustain drives against San Diego State. Nevada has a weapon at quarterback to attack the San Diego State defense in Carson Strong. On the back of his arm, Nevada has 382.8 yards passing per game and a shot to upset the Aztecs.
