Tulsa dealt with multiple quarterback injuries as they improved to 5-1 on Thursday night in a double-overtime thriller against Tulane. The Golden Hurricane won 30-24 as Zaven Collins ran back an interception 96 yards for the winning points, capping a wild game that was still scoreless at halftime. The win will keep Tulsa in both major polls and launch them among the top 25 teams in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings.

Starting quarterback Zach Smith went just 2-of-6 for 17 yards before a torso injury took him out of the game. Backup quarterback Seth Boomer went 7-of-13 for 60 yards and an interception before he too was felled by injury. Third-string passer Davis Brin came in and led a Golden Hurricane comeback, throwing a Hail Mary to tie the game on the final play of regulation.

Brin finished 18-of-28 for 266 yards and two passing touchdowns and added a rushing score.

The Golden Hurricane remain unbeaten in American Athletic Conference play, with three regular-season games remaining. Back-to-back road trips to Houston and Navy over the next two weeks precede the regular-season finale against Cincinnati. If both teams keep winning, that game will likely serve to determine which team hosts the AAC championship game.
