Projected 2020 College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings for Week 13
By Zach Bigalke
Ranked in both major polls, will Louisiana land in the College Football Playoff selection committee’s first batch of 2020 rankings? The Ragin’ Cajuns remained at 7-1 after they were forced to cancel their home game against FCS Central Arkansas with 33 of their players unavailable under COVID-19 protocols. The canceled game could actually serve to bolster Louisiana’s strength of schedule.
Billy Napier’s squad has largely gotten the job done so far thanks to one of the nation’s best ballhawking defenses. The pass defense is especially stingy, ranking among the top 10 in the FBS in opponent passing efficiency and boasting 11 interceptions through eight games. The offense, led by quarterback Levi Lewis, has featured a good balance of passing and running as they average more than 30 points per game.
Already locked into the Sun Belt championship game as the top team in the West, Louisiana needs only to keep winning in its final contests to stay in the New Year’s Six hunt. A rivalry game against Louisiana-Monroe looms in Week 13, and they follow up with another road trip to Boone for a rematch of last year’s Sun Belt title game against Appalachian State.
