3. Kansas State shut out 45-0 by Iowa State

There were two Big 12 games played on Saturday with Texas at Kansas having to be postponed. One of the most underrated conference matchups was Kansas State traveling to Ames to take on the No. 17 Iowa State Cyclones. Several football experts had the Wildcats as the team likely to record an upset over the weekend.

From start to finish, the Wildcats were dominated on both sides of the ball. The Cyclones accounted for 539 total yards and 26 first downs. They also had 240 yards on the ground on 44 carries for an average of 5.5 yards per rush.

Kansas State’s offense was having problems extending drives and finding the rhythm they needed to get points on the board. The Wildcats had only 149 total yards on offense and nine first downs. They played two quarterbacks throughout the game as they both went under 10 in their QBR.

Together, Wildcats quarterbacks combined for 76 yards and one interception on 9-of-19 passing for an average of 4.4 yards. The Wildcats averaged 2.6 yards per rush on 28 carries. Kansas State’s offensive line allowed three sacks and 10 tackles for loss from the Cyclones.

Kansas State has had an up-and-down season where they started their 2020 season with a 35-31 home loss to the Arkansas State Red Wolves. One game later, they defeated No. 3 Oklahoma 38-35 in Norman.

This is their third consecutive loss of the season as they must find some consistency in their up-and-down season.
