2. Alabama flexed depth on defense

After keeping Nix clean basically all game last year, Alabama wanted to get to him early. However, the Crimson Tide did it with their big time freshman, that made the plays to keep Auburn out of the end zone. It started with Linebacker Allen and Defensive Tackle Barmore that got to Nix in the backfield.

It would then be Malachi Moore, that quite possibly had his best game in his young career. On an end around play with Schwartz, Malachi Moore tracked him from behind and with a shoe string tackle, got the world class sprinter in the backfield for a loss of three. He would then make a fantastic play on Schwartz once again, this time picking off a pass intended for him.

The freshman would continue to ball out as Nix would throw his second interception to a first-year guy. This time, to Brian Branch, who also got an assist from Moore. The former four star duo made Nix’s day a nightmare and are the future of the secondary, once Surtain leaves for the NFL.

To cap off the day, the third and final sack from Alabama came from the highly coveted defensive player in that class in former No. 1 defensive end, Will Anderson. The Alabama defense has been a well-oiled machine over the past decade and these selective few freshman stepped up in one of the biggest games of the season.
