3. Indiana adjusts after a sloppy start

Both the Hoosier and Terrapins missed chances early. The Terrapins marched down the field on their first drive only to miss a field goal. Neither team could get anything going their next two drives combining for -12 yards. It was not until the Hoosiers put together an 11-play, 74-yard drive that Indiana began to get out of their fog.

The Terrapins had no such luck. Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa would throw interceptions on the next two drives and punt the two drives afterward totaling just 19 yards in those drives. The Terps would not score until late in the second quarter. Maryland would not score again until late in the fourth quarter.

Michael Penix was not playing well before an injury took him out of the game. It was the running game, led by Stevie Scott and Tim Baldwin Jr. led the Hoosiers ground game as Indiana ground out a tough victory.
