1. Quick takeaways for Texas Tech

The Red Raiders have lost too many games like this one the last couple of years. Matt Wells has to figure out the defense. The Red Raiders out-gained the Cowboys and scored 44 points yet still lost. The offense did not make many mistakes, but it seems as if the mistakes they made were critical.

This is year two of the Matt Wells experience in Lubbock. While the offense is outstanding, you have to be able to stop people in order to win games and the Red Raiders defense is terrible.

Quick takeaways for the Cowboys

Head coach Mike Gundy has to be excited about winning a game like this one. They were on the ropes all game and without two of their best players found a way to win. Dezmon Jackson had a career day when they needed it most. Spencer Sanders did a much better job of taking care of the football this week than he did against the Sooners.

The win keeps the Pokes in the hunt for the Big 12 title. Both the Cowboys and Sooners have two losses with the Sooners having the tie break. The Cowboys have to win out and hope the Sooners lose again.
