A chance for some real momentum

The defense hasn’t been perfect for Nebraska but it hit the quarterback and forced turnovers and that’s all you can ask. Even on the last drive, Nebraska was able to get after the quarterback.

So just like on the offensive side of the ball, there were some things to be happy about. David Bell and Rondale Moore caught 23 passes for more than 200 yards but those guys are going to do that against a lot of teams and a lot of that was one big chunk play.

The Huskers held Purdue to -2 rushing yards and a lot of that had to do with all the sacks but for a while Saturday, you were reminded of something that looked like Nebraska football.

Now, the Huskers need to build on that. At 2-4, a bowl game could still be possible. Nebraska needs to beat Minnesota and then a win a game during champions week. That would get the record to 4-4 and even if a postseason game doesn’t come after, that would be a great finish to the season.
