Projected 2020 College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings for Week 15
By Zach Bigalke
Florida sealed its spot in the SEC championship game on Saturday with a Week 14 win over Tennessee. The 31-19 takedown of the Volunteers in Knoxville ensured that the Gators will represent the East against Alabama in the title tilt on December 19. The victory could also be enough to push the Gators past Texas A&M in the College Football Playoff rankings. When the committee sorts out this week’s Top 25, they will have to determine whether the head-to-head win is enough to keep the Aggies in front.
Kyle Trask had another Heisman-worthy performance at Neyland Stadium, throwing for 433 yards and four touchdowns as he completed 35 of his 49 passes. Trask’s efforts to guide the Gators to a relatively easy victory are all the more impressive considering that Florida’s ground game managed to gain only 20 rushing yards. The Florida defense shut down Tennessee, holding the Vols to 334 total yards of offense on their home turf.
The Gators still have one more regular-season game left to play, a home date against LSU that was postponed from its original October 17 date due to COVID-19 cases in Gainesville. Win or lose, Florida is already in the SEC championship game. A loss to the Tigers would hurt their College Football Playoff chances, but the New Year’s Six is still in play no matter what happens at the Swamp in Week 15.
