1. Turnovers hurt Virginia Tech

In big games, the teams that usually win the turnover battle seem to always come out on top with a victory. Virginia Tech had three crucial turnovers in this game that really hurt their chances.

What really hurt Virginia Tech was that Clemson football turned those three turnovers into 21 points. Yes, Clemson did end up winning by more than 21 points overall, but the turnovers really just helped turned this game into a blowout overall.

You cannot turn the ball over three times in a game and expect to win. Especially against a great team like Clemson.

At the same time you have to give credit to Clemson on defense. Clemson is the 3rd ranked team in the country for a reason.

Clemson early on in the year had some key injuries, and some COVID-19 cases that made some players miss some extended time on the defensive side of the ball. The Clemson defense led by coordinator Brent Venables seems to finding its stride at the right time.

The ACC still has football games scheduled next week, but Clemson and Notre Dame both have off weeks to prepare for the ACC Championship. Hopefully, this will help both sides get healthy overall, so that this game can really live up to the hype it is going to be getting from the media.

The only thing that is not cool is we have to wait not one, but two weeks to watch the ACC Championship game featuring Clemson and Notre Dame. December 19th cannot come soon enough.
