No. 25 The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (9-1)

After finally defeating the Appalachian State Mountaineers, the Cajuns find themselves back in the Sun Belt Championship game. The reward for Louisiana? A championship game versus the Chanticleers. A Sun Belt Championship would be the capstone to a building project aiming to level up the Louisiana football program.

The Cajuns got close last season, losing to Appalachian State. This season, head coach Billy Napier and Louisiana have another opportunity to get over the hump and win the conference championship. To do so, the Cajuns defense has to play its best game of the season.

The championship game is a repeat of a game earlier this season. In that game, the Cajuns fell short against Coastal Carolina 27-30. In that game, the Cajuns did slow the Chanticleers running game down but did not stop it. The Cajuns’ offense moved the football against the “Black Swarm” defense of Coastal Carolina.

Louisiana outrushed the Chanticleers 240 to 212. The game was back and forth, with Coastal Carolina winning because they had the last possession. Despite the great story that the Chanticleers are, it is not a stretch to think the Cajuns cannot beat the Chants.

One thing is for sure; it’s going to be a good one for the Sun Belt.
