Steve Sarkisian

There are plenty of issues with Steve Sarkisian but he’s going to get a big-time job at some point soon and for the most part, Nick Saban’s former assistants have made solid head coaches.

The thing about Sarkisian is that he’s been the head coach of two major programs before such as USC and Washington. He helped rebuild Washington and eventually left there after three consecutive winning seasons.

He then put together a nine-win season with the Trojans before leaving for personal issues. Yet, has rebuilt his image and his career and despite some of his problems, he’s been a winner at the college level, he’s an innovator and he knows how to recruit.

His price tag probably wouldn’t be as big as some of the others on the list, but he’s also not the big name such as Meyer. That’s also why Herman could end up keeping the job.

There doesn’t seem to be a slam-dunk hire outside of Campbell and as I said, it could be tough to snag him away from a conference rival.

Texas is Texas though and if there is an opening, it will get some quality candidates and remember, the most high-profile candidate isn’t always the best.
