3. LSU Tigers Defeated by Revenge-Seeking #1 Alabama 55-17

Last year, the LSU Tigers had the biggest season in the history of College Football that includes a duel against the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tigers snapped an eight game losing streak against Alabama by defeating them 46-41 in Tuscaloosa in a battle of Heisman Trophy contenders. This left a sour taste for Alabama on the field and off the field with LSU’s locker room antics.

The Tide not only got their revenge on the Tigers but they were able to do so in a big way. Alabama scored 45 points on them by halftime thanks to huge performances by quarterback Mac Jones and wide receivers DeVonta Smith. Not even LSU’s best cornerback in Derek Stingley Jr. could contain Smith as he caught eight receptions for 231 yards and three touchdowns.

The Tigers’ defense allowed 650 total yards from Alabama including 265 yards on the ground and 32 first downs. Jones was highly efficient in picking the holes that the Tigers’ defense allowed. They could not find an answer defensively to stopping the high-power offense of the Tide.

The Tigers’ offense had rhythm at times but they lacked consistency as they only accounted for 352 total yards and 21 first downs. They, once again, switched out quarterbacks in freshman TJ Finley and Max Johnson.

This was the biggest defeat of a defending National Champion in the past 40 years. Their memories of their incredible season last year and the National Championship title is replaced by the nightmare of this season as they are now 3-5 in 2020.
