1. Sun Devils will overpower the Wildcats in the run game

Arizona State comes into this game against Arizona with one of the most effective rushing attacks in the Pac-12. In the two games that Arizona State has played, it ranks 23rd in rushing yards per game (211.3). They have converted 48 percent of their third-down conversions.

The Sun Devils have three consistent rushers in DeaMonte Trayanum, Jayden Daniels and Rachaad White who have combined for 438 yards and three touchdowns on 69 carries. White is also the team’s leading receiver as he has caught six passes for 123 yards and a touchdown.

They will be playing against a Wildcats defense that is ranked 126th in the nation (last among the Pac-12) in rushing yards allowed per game (273.5). They have also allowed a third-down conversion rate of 43 percent. This is a defense that is easily overpowered at the line of scrimmage and consistently allows significant runs of mid-range to long-yardage plays against them.

Daniels’ leadership and playmaking ability as a dual-threat quarterback makes him a dangerous player. Trayanum’s aggressiveness as a running back will help the Sun Devils dominate at the line of scrimmage. Finally, White’s playmaking abilities as a flex running back by opening up the playbook will make it difficult for the Wildcats.

Even though the Sun Devils have only played two games this season, they will have the likely chance to have their biggest offensive output.
